The Cabin

The view from the deck of the cabin

I love this pic of my hubby--isn't he cute?!

Tuckers family has this great cabin up Farmington Canyon. It is less then a hour to get there but you feel like you are so far away from everything. The cabin itself is like this 70's style retro thing, but it has so much charm. The cabin is Tucker's favorite place in the world. He counts the days until he can get back up there. We went up Saturday morning with Tuckers mom, dad and brother and had such a fun time. The kids loved it. They have this tire swing that we played in and they enjoyed just getting dirty. :) Tucker's mom is a fantastic cook so we grilled steaks, corn on the cob, fresh clams--no I did not go there-- and fruit. It was so good! That night we watched the sun set over the dwindling Great Salt Lake. Absolutely gorgeous. We came back and roasted marshmallows and played an awesome game of the old-school version of Life. Sunday morning we took a walk to the pond and enjoyed the view. Tucker's brother actually jumped in and swam in it. Way to cold for me. Tucker will be very happy when I say we need to get up there more often.

We made it!

Kids can really melt your heart when they want to, ya know?? Usually Keaton and Shelby play together so well. Shelby of course has her moments but I love to just watch them play when they think no one is watching.

Good Stuff!

Please tell us someone else finds this video as funny as we did!! We got to go to Lagoon again and this was Shelbys first time on the bumper cars. Lets just say she didnt quite get it. We also put Keaton on the cute new ride Odysea for the first time. He was so-so about the whole situation but he sure looks like a big boy sitting there!

Keaton's One!!

Keaton swimming in the little pool.

My newest niece Kate...She is SO cute!

Where did that year go?? I cant believe my baby is one. Keaton is my sweetest little guy. He loves to give big hugs and slobbery kisses. We had the best time for his birthday. We had everyone come over for a pool party/BBQ. Tucker had the yard looking awesome and we set up three pools and the good old slip and slide and let the kids go to town. Keaton sat in the pool for a long time playing and enjoying himself. The best part about the night was the birthday cake. I have never seen a baby do such justice to a cake as he did. He ate the entire thing!! Seriously. It was hilarious to watch. It was so much fun to have everyone over and visit. Thanks to everyone who came!
That night we topped it off with some fireworks. It was Clinton Days so we got some great seats and enjoyed the rest of the night. Happy Birthday Keaton!

My Mother-In-Law made the cutest cake!

Keaton was very worried when everyone started singing

Ruby is one of my hero's. After Shelby's messed up heart surgery, this was her nurse. She was there on the worst day of her life. I remember the morning after the surgery my mom went in the NICU to see how Shelby was doing. She asked Ruby how she was and Ruby didn't answer her. At first we were thinking how rude she was but later found out that she was so emotional about Shelby that she couldn't answer. When I came in that day I was so unprepared to see how sick she really was. They were having to resuscitate her literally every few minutes. Ruby was standing over her bagging Shelby constantly and the Respiratory Therapist never left her bedside that day. I remember that her oxygen saturation's never were rising above 30%. I finally just broke down right in the middle of the NICU. Ruby had another nurse take over and she gave me the biggest hug. She helped get her ready for transport which was at least a 2 hour process and a miracle in itself. She is truly amazing.
Anyway, we went and visited her at IMC. She remembered me and Shelby right away and we were able to talk for about 20 minutes. It was really nice. Shelby went right to her. She is amazing!

Shelby and Ada

What a difference a year makes. Last year Shelby would cry anytime I tried to take her on a ride. This year was a whole different story. She loved Lagoon so much. She wanted to go on all the kiddie rides. Her favorite was the boats. We went with my mom and sisters. My mom took the kids for a bit so I could go on some of the big rides. I had to work some of the day so I was going back and forth from Lagoon. Later that night Ty, Al, Ada and my dad came too and we rode on a few rides with them. Ada and Shelby are so cute together, I love having all of her cousins so close. It is so fun watching them.

The Beach

Keaton loved the carousel

I love this picture, it looks so creepy

Yesterday me, my mom and the kids went to San Diego for the day....Yes the day, we took the morning flight out and took the night flight back home. I always thought that it would be a fun idea to just go somewhere for the day. It was great! San Diego is one of my favorite places. It is so beautiful and I LOVE the Ocean. We got our car and hung out at Seaport Village for awhile. We ate at this fabulous place called Asaggio's. We got this Chicago-style deep dish pizza. It was to die for. So if you are going to San Diego then you must eat there! After we walked and shopped for awhile we went over to Coronado and played on Coronado beach. It is a gorgeous beach with great sand. It was overcast by the beach but still felt so good and relaxing! Shelby could play in the water and sand all day and Keaton had a great time for his first beach trip. We wore the kids out and on the way back they slept almost the whole plane ride home.

A HUGE milestone...and a couple small ones.

Well we finally made it, Shelby is officially potty trained. I have been trying off and on since she turned three and NOTHING was working. She just did not get it. Last Monday night when me and the family were at Willard Bay Shelby started acting like she had to go to the bathroom. She never does so my mom took her to the bathroom and as soon as she sat on the potty she went! I was really surprised. So the next day I decided to try the potty training thing again. Little did I know I didn't have to do anything. She would tell me when she had to go and we didn't have one accident the entire day! She even made it through her nap and at night. It was seriously amazing how it just "clicked" in her head. So it has almost been a week and she has only had one accident. I am so proud of her!
Also in the past 2 weeks, Keaton has gotten 3 teeth. Crazy!! He didn't have any until he was 11 1/2 months old and then they are all coming at once. The other fabulous thing is that it hasn't really affected him getting the teeth. He was a little grumpy with the first one but the other two he has been totally fine. I'm feeling quite lucky at the moment. :)

A Fun Fourth

The Fourth of July is one of my favorite holidays. I love everything about it; the fireworks, parade, carnival etc. We took the kids to the Riverdale parade and had a great time. Keaton liked all of it except the loud fire engines and Shelby loved all the candy they threw out. After the parade we took the kids to a little carnival in a park. Shelby and Samantha rode a cute train together and we just walked around for a while. It was one of the only 4th of July's that I wasn't sweating to death. There was a nice cloud cover that made being outside bearable. After the kids naps, I stopped by my parents for a while and then took the kids to Tuckers aunt Elaine's house. Shelby got to swim for a little bit and became so crazy obsessed with Shamu she got to take him home. It's so funny what she gets attached to. I hope everyone had a wonderful Independance Day!
