Right here, right now

Every now and again I like to do a post to share how things really are.  I like to highlight all of the positive things in our life, but sometimes it's good to remember how things are right here, right now.
Shelby:
She has made an EXCELLENT transition to her new school.  I stressed for years about how it would go and worried about every possible situation.  She has made friends, she fits in, she does well in reading.  Math continues and probably always will be a struggle for her.  She has a teacher that comes in her classroom and does one and one help with her four days a week.  She has a few social struggles that I notice in that she feels most comfortable with kids who are a few years younger then her.  She doesn't really know or care about what is popular right now and marches to the beat of her own drum...I love that.  She gets excited to play with Keaton every day and loves to occasionally run into him around school.  Shelby has a strong, fierce attitude that sometimes we clash together.  Between her Kumon and school homework she always has over an hour every night.  I don't blame her for not always wanting to do it.  She worries about a lot of things.  She worries about getting sick, about other people getting sick amongst other things.
Keaton:
Keaton is doing great in school.  He's a good reader and great at math as well.  He loves to play football and wrote a whole story about a NFL game.  He brings a football every day to school and plays it with his friends.  He also wrote a story about Minecraft which is funny because he has never played the actual game.  He is a daddy's boy through and through.  He can't wait until Tucker comes home and on his days off he wants to be with him all of the time.  I don't think he is as rowdy as a lot of boys are.  He likes to just sit on the couch and snuggle.    Keaton can struggle with listening!  We can ask him something and he forgets immediately after or just chooses not to do it.  He is a great big brother to Chloe and will tickle her back or pretty much do whatever she asks of him.  He is very perceptive and if someone is sad, he will try and make things right or lighten up the mood.  He is quick to tell us how much he loves us.  He is excited to be able to play basketball this winter.
Chloe:
Chloe is such a fun three year old.  She is funny and spunky and loves to play.  She loves dance, her cars, her babies, makeup and dress up.  She thinks she is always in charge and likes to boss people around.  She loves going to preschool and is learning lots of new things.  She refuses to count to ten for me, but I hear her counting often when she thinks that I am not listening.  She adores Shelby and Keaton and usually likes to copy anything that Shelby does from the color of spoon she is using, to what kind of food or candy to choose.  You can imagine how thrilled that makes Shelby.  Ha!  She is transitioning out of her afternoon nap but will still play quietly in her room for a while and sometimes fall asleep.  She sings around the house all day and is usually making up her own songs in her head.  She goes to the Weber State University daycare once a week while I am in class  and marches around campus like she owns it.  She refuses to walk right next to me and instead walks about 10 feet in front of me and shows me where to go.  She also likes to ask every student that she walks by if they are my friend.  She also enjoys her dance class.  She wishes that it was more then once a week.  She likes to practice her kicks and twirls at home.

That's that latest and greatest right now.  I LOVE these kids so much!

Grandma Squire

My sweet grandma passed away last Thursday.  She was such an amazing grandma and I will miss her.  She had been battling Alzheimer's for the last several years so I was happy for her to be free of that disease and I was especially happy for her to be reunited with two of her children that had died when they were babies.  I have great memories from childhood with her.  We spent quite a bit of time with her.  We would spent many days in the summer with her.  She was an expert canner and I remember spending time helping her with that.  We would have the best monthly family home evenings at their house and yummy Thanksgiving dinners.  She would put out tons of her homemade pickles because she knew how much we all loved them.  I remember going to Flaming Gorge and Lake Powell with her and she was always cooking for everyone and braiding hair.  My cousin McKell and I were lucky enough to go with my grandma and grandpa on a trip to Yellowstone with them.  It is one of my greatest memories.  My grandma had a way of making everyone feel special.  She is hilarious and always made people laugh.  Many years ago she sewed everyone a quillow.  I wore mine out to bits. My sisters and I went down to visit her the Friday before she passed away.  It was a perfect visit.  She was happy and knew who we all were.  I asked her how she was feeling and she said "With my hands!"  We all laughed and she did too.  My grandma loved music, especially primary songs and we all sang songs together while I played the piano.  When I shut the piano cover after quite a few songs she quickly said to me "What are you doing?  I wasn't done yet!"  So I opened up the piano and we sang some more!  I sure love you grandma.

Crazy hair day!

We had fun with crazy hair day this year.  We did cupcakes for Shelby's hair.

 Keaton had crazy red hair.
Shelby and Keaton are in a craft club after school.  They have been making some fun things!

Black Island Farm

Alysia had tickets from an realtor to go to Black Island Farms and had a few extra so we got to tag along for dinner and fun.  Cheryce and her kids joined us later as well.
Izzy was making snow angels in the corn...so corn angels?

Chloe loves anytime that she gets to play with Izzy.
Alysia and Nash got to ride the train too.
 Chloe loved the slides.
I love this picture even though it is blurry.  These kids are BFF's.

This is Ellie on top of the world with the full moon in the background.  It was a fun night!

First week of October

I spent a night up in Park City and loved the changing leaves.
I took Michele to the Garden on top of the Joseph Smith Memorial Building and we enjoyed this gorgeous view of the temple.
We went to Frightmares...it's pretty unusual to be the only kid on the boats!  Usually that ride takes forever.

Chloe got to play with her cute cousin Lauren.  She loves playing with her!

Kid pictures

The kids had their pictures taken last month.  I loved how they turned out.
 I love Chloe's pose here

 This smile melts my heart!

My little boy is growing up!  I sure love him!
 Those eyes!

They were very silly when they were all together.  Our fantastic photographer had her work cut out for her!

Shelby looks so grown up here.  She is so beautiful!
